I am no expert on polling but over the years have observed that they seem to mainly serve a purpose for the media which is usually too lazy to do the work of reporting news. Instead, they hire polling groups to help them make the news. You or I, if we were willing to spend the money, can hire a pollster to conduct a poll. In fact, we can even tell them how we want the question(s) phrased. There is no real science to it. Merely money.
