My first response is that I am rubber and you are glue and everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you.

That said, I would like to say that I do not get chartered around in the company jet, nor do I have a reserved parking space. But I do have a fairly responsible position in a large corporation. I'm a member of a few Million Mile Flyer clubs with a couple of airlines. I carry a company sponsored beeper, and cell phone. While technically I'm on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, my beeper has only gone off for it's intended purpose twice in the last 5 years. But when it has gone off, it was my responsibility to put in a couple of 50 hour days to "save the day".

I tell you this to give some foundation of what my experience is. And it has been my experience that price does matter. We are not talking abuot "a few dollars", but a few dollars multiplied 1000 times over. It has also been my experience that market share matters. It has also been my experience that often times better products sometimes lose to better marketing (Apple vs Windows, for example.)

Maurice has eloquently pointed out that many other things matter, too. He forgot one point, however. That would be who has the best marketing. For G*, that will be left up to the franchise holders, who know their market best. Maurice also eloquently pointed out that in many ways, G* is in fact superior. I concur.

I do agree that Iridium has better coverage. And has more satellites in the sky. But I think that about sums up it's advantages.
