We are a long way from any kind of meaningful reform in the greater Islamic cultural world vis-a-vis terror. A few newspaper editorials mean nothing; even if the entire intellectual elite (newspapers, university professors, professionals) wrote and spoke every day about how wrong it is, it would be zero.

I also have huge doubts that the much-desired Islamic Reformation will ever take place.

It won't be non-Muslim deaths which cause the change, it will be pain on their side of the aisle. Extreme pain targeted specifically at the terrorists (and their communities) that will, eventually, turn the tide, and more likely than not at the hands of their own governments. (I don't have the cite, but Syria apparently took care of its Islamic terrorist problem by flattening the city they were in, very Sodom and Gomorrah like in its consequences.)
