Well the dudes were saying that they couldn't find anything on it, yet it made their online electronic edition, and it took me only a couple of minutes to find it. I can't help it if some bozos don't know how to use a search engine.

Furthermore, it is not clear what exactly has happened - Chalabi claims that he has been completely exhonorated - yet the article says that he is not off scot free.

Now if this were the USA or some other country that had an actual legal system, maybe we could tell. But is there due process in Iraq? Why was the original warrant issued and then supposedly retracted? Were the original charges political? Perhaps the original charges were legit, but maybe the judge's decision to drop them was political. Who really knows?

One thing's for sure, I wouldn't take Chalabi's word on anyting. His previous convition in Jordan, the lies that came from the INC, not to mention the allegations of his being an Iraqi spy all cast serious doubt on his credibility.

In terms of the Iraqi legal system, all I can say is to consider the case of Moqtada Al Sadr. First there was a warrant issued charging him with murder issued many months after the murder took place. Now the warrant has been dropped. What happened? Was the original warrant legit? Is the interim government really going to let a murderer walk?

Who knows.
