It doesn't matter who controls the Caucuses. Whoever controls is going to put the oil on the market at the going exchange rate. Hitler was suppossed to conquer the caucuses to capture the oil as part of Operation Barbersa, but ended up in Stalingrad instead. The caucuses are beyond Stalingrad.
