Here are 2 more definitions of terrorism you may want to know about.

I looked at a lot of definitions of terrorism over the last few days. They all looked pretty much the same. So I offered what I though was a simple synthesis. About which you said "That does not begin to explain terrorism as I know it."

I suppose that your adding two more definitions to my reference list was intended to clarify but it hasn't because I'm unable to identify any significant differences among them.

To more readily contrast them, I've pasted yours and mine together so they can be viewed together--to no avail. I can't identify what it might be that you see as salient differences between yours and mine. What am I missing? Would you point me towards the light bulb, please?

Here are the two you gave me:

Title 22, USC, section 2656f(d) legally defines terrorism as "premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience."

The FBI uses this definition, "Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives."

And here are the two I gave you:

Terrorism : (noun)

1: the calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimindation (sic) or coercion or instilling fear

"My understanding of the term is the creation of terror by targeted violence against civilians to intimidate enemies into concessions."
