No, the point is that our present economies are so damn dependent on petroleum that it creates wars/terrorism and other problems. Russia would probably still care about Chechneya, as no country likes to see provinces break away, but would it escallate to a bloody civil war and terrorism without oil or some other natural resource in the equation, probably not. A political solution would be found and life would go on. Russia wants the oil, Chechneya wants the independence, so there is war and terrorism. Typical.
