Can be produced from H2O --- with either electrons or photons as input energy source....

"and hydrogen is dangerously explosive, much more so than gasoline."

No, it is considered LESS dangerous in vehicles then gasoline. In the event a pressurized hydrogen tank is ruptured, because the gas is so light most of the combustion is quickly WELL ABOVE the vehicle, unlike with gasoline.
