I caught a little bit of a Nader speech on CSPAN this evening. He was talking about how, in Detroit, the city condemned a neighborhood via eminent domain in order for GM to build a GM plant.

I'd be interested in more detail on this. I didn't think a government can use eminent domain to take private property for a private use.

What were the details? Was a portion of the property at least used for public purposes?

Just wondering.

Mazza Gallerie, by the way, sucks as a mall. I say this as a second generation mall rat, parent of third generation mall rats. No parking. Malls need parking.

No true suburbanite would be impressed by Mazza Gallerie. Lots of upscale shops, no place to park. Thumbs down.

Take the Red Line.
