When traveling to NYC - Midtown Ise (Japanese) 49th Street between Lex and 3rd. 75% of clientele are Japanese and a lot of those are in town from Japan. Very nice food. Wollenski's Grill (American) 3rd and 49th- Not the main Smith & Wollenski's, but the Grill around back. Loud, but great food in HUGE portions. Virgil's (BBQ) 44th between Broadway and 7th - They took all different great styles of BBQing and put them on their menu. Very quick service if going to a show. Churriscaria Plataforma (Brazilian) 49th between 8th and 9th - All you can eat with over 20 types of Brazlian BBQ!! I've never been able to do more than 15 in one sitting. Large salad bar included - desserts and drinks aren't included. I'm in NYC every other week and invariably go to these restaurants over and over again.
