CB, It may be humane to trap them, but that is not so easy to do. Their mama taught them well about the foibles of human beings. If they become a nuisance, I will contact the SPCA, and let them handle it.
We, also love songbirds, and squirrels, and have feeders for both species. The cats are not fast enough to give them any trouble, but when one of the cats tried to pester a pregnant squirrel, we hit the tree, and the bushes, with a stick. After doing that a couple of times, he no longer makes any attempts.
Another one of them tried to get to the bird feeder, it was so high in the tree, and swinging in the breeze, that he fell down to the ground, then looked around to see who pushed him.
The only animals that the cats can catch, and eat, are lizards, and we have an over flow of them. Now, at night, we see a couple of raccoons roaming the area. Where they came from, I do not know. Never showed up before. |
