2. As when Lexmark recalls 40,000 printers Written by Gundeep Hora Tuesday, 07 September 2004 36 minutes ago.
Lexmark International Inc. recalled 39,431 printers from the market on Tuesday, according to a statement by Consumer Product Safety Commission. The printers were sold under the Lexmark, IBM, and Dell brands. The safety commission said the reason for recall is the potential shock hazard that can be caused from the printers.
The printers could short circuit, in return causing injury to the user. The safety commission or the above reported companies have not received injury reports thus far, but Lexmark assumed responsibility for the flaw in its printers and recalled them from the market before any incidents could happen.
The printer models in question are Lexmark's E232, E223t, E330, +332n, and E332tn; IBM's Infoprint 1412 and 1412n; and Dell's 1700 and 1700n models. The companies stated that most of the printers were sold through distributors or their online retail stores.
It is being suggested by the Consumer Product Safety Commission that all users with the aforementioned printer models should immediately contact the respective companies and get a replacement. |
