What Kerry actually said: "Yes, I would have voted for the authority, but I would have used that authority, as I have said throughout this campaign, effectively. I would have done this very differently from the way President Bush has."

So Kerry is defending his vote to give the President the authority to go to war. This vote was in Oct 2002, and helped pressure Iraq to allow the UN inspectors to return. Kerry believes the President should have this authority to help conduct foreign affairs. I disagree with Kerry on that point ... What if the President is a fool (like Bush)?

Obviously Bush rushed to war, not as a last resort, and without a plan to win the peace. That is "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time".

Even though I disagree with Kerry's vote, there is no inconsistency in Kerry's comments.
