I don't need to sympathize or like people -- I simply deal with reality, and the reality is that the majority of Iraqis putting their lives on the line every day as they attempt to kill our children, and do so with remarkable frequency and some success, are hoping first and foremost to be free of foreign military occupation -- just as we would if we lived under foreign military occupation. If we lived under foreign military occupation, our first instinct would not be to decide between our policy preferences or anything else, our first instinct would be to rid ourselves of the foreign military force. That is precisely what is happening in Iraq, and predictably so.
