BYTE September article on Oracle 8 not too complementary Review. Since the article, the Sedona developer package has been killed by Ellison. Object technology is another vulnerability, in addition to MSFT
and to a lesser extent IFMX [questionable they will regain] and SYBS
[still trying to define themselves]. Seems like Oracle's challenges with it's core technology have begun with it's "premature" release. Also, don't forget the NC initiative, with the costs and resources commited to a future opportunity with uncertain market potential. Customers are loyal and/or locked in, but the future growth % is what I agree is going to be difficult to maintain.
