I'm not an educator - so I don't really know. But, It seems to me we have a giant education system and an establishement that feed off of it. I don't know that we have an overall philosophy, much less achievable goals and objectives.

Setting standards in such an amorphous and fluid situation does not seem to make good sense.

Putting a hodge podge set of standards on top of hodge podge hodge podges will make it look like we are doing something - when in reality it is only more hodge podge.

I don't have the answer. What I think is we are getting deeper and deeper into ineffectiveness. Of course with all the money that is poured into education - a lot of good does come out of it. But, from a return on investment perspective - that would be a joke.
