I tried blowing up the memos and the same words in my Word program - at 500% the letters in the memos are granular but the letters in Word are fairly smooth. Which is probably a function of the document being photocopied.

I still think that the letters are too even along the baseline to be from a typewriter, those tend to be up and down along the baseline.
