The question is, what typewriter was Killian using? I doubt if his unit sprang for a high-tech typewriter to write memos. Also, from what I have read it's unlikely that Bush needed to "stretch his father's authority" to get into the Texas Air National Guard. Whatever Barnes did (and he's a lousy witness) it wasn't crucial to Bush getting a pilot slot. I don't have any problems with Bush's intentions or his performance in the ANG.
