The 1st generally available word processor was from Wang Labs and was introduced in 1976. When these memo's were written in 1972 they could not have been produced on an IBM (the font is wrong).

There were two other vendors with early generation systems used for typesetting - Lexitron and Vydec - but I doubt they would be used for office memo's (too complicated and too expensive for an Air Guard Unit).

I suspect these are Republican forgeries fed to the media to make them look foolish :-)
