[Cowen]

History's repeating itself.

Cowen has a report out giving Westell a "strong trading buy" based on the scheduled conference call for this Thursday.

Points to be covered in the call:

* trial activity

* pending contracts

* new facility

Cowen is saying they expect the tone of the call to be upbeat and that the strength of the xDSL market will be emphasized as well as the potential that Westell will get contracts from:

* large domestic service provider such as BA/Nynex or GTE

* large ISP

* International telco such as BC

Besides management, there will be guest speakers from BA, GTE, and Telechoice who will reaffirm customer demand for products.

Challenges facing the company:

* forward pricing

* timing of commercial deployment

* number of quality local loops able to hold signal

Okay, folks, why is Westell holding a conference call this close to their quarterly call? Why are they inviting guests to state the obvious? Why is Cowen saying they expect the tone to be upbeat?

Something doesn't feel right.
