Mindmeld, RE: "This is a line out of the liberal's handbook"

Actually, it's a line directly from the grandson (someone I know) of a close friend to a previous Prime Minister of an up-and-coming super power.

Make absolutely no mistake here, it is quite probable an up-and-coming super-power would not have allowed the USA to attack Iraq as it did without sufficient evidence, had their GDPs been further along to provide the necessary counter-balance to America's unilateral dominance and control imposed over the world.

RE: "who better than an American to teach the other cultures"

It's a display of arrogance to assume America knows best. Or, maybe it's simply international ignorance. Or maybe both.

But it's only arrogance that assumes one not only knows what is better for someone else but actually imposes it. Hypothetically, if you and I have lunch and say if I prefer pineapple on pizza but you think that's super bad and impose your unilateral choice for pepperoni, you have arrogantly imposed your views and your culture and your selection. At the end of the day, people of their own culture want to decide their culture - they absolutely do not want Americans to arrogantly impose an American culture on them in any shape or form.

America will need to be humble and more diplomatically savvy, or put itself at foreign risk as the super-powers come online.

Mindmeld, you assume you know best? I have to ask, do you do any international traveling and do you sit down and really listen to international people? Truly, your response showed a distinct lack of respect for other people and where they are. First off, people want food and no murders. Second of all, they absolutely find it disturbing when an American thinks they arrogantly know what's best for them. (Fortunately, not all Americans think they know better than everyone else.)

RE: "Is this really an imposition?"

At the rate of 10,000 to 50,000 Iraqi deaths per year, some in Iraq probably would say "yes." At the going death rate, we may be close to reaching the same number of murders Sadaam did over a decade.
