High IQ by itself is meaningless. IQ is only one form of intelligence. Emotional intelligence, aka "people smarts" are essential in most areas of life.

You don't have to be well born to get ahead, look at Bill Clinton. He came from a broken home, had an abusive step father, yet became a two term President. He has a very high IQ but his real gift is "people smarts."

Dubya also has very good "people smarts." His staff used to serve other Republican administrations, but are loyal to him and his administration worked like a well oiled clock from before the beginning. I watched the Florida debacle very closely, and they were just awesome, totally outlawyered and outsmarted Gore's group.

Gore doesn't have a lot of "people smarts" is my guess.

There are other kinds of intelligence, for example, athletes, musicians and artists have physical intelligence.
