Twfowler, repeating the dogma that "Kerry lied about the war," doesn't make it true. There are many who spent significant time in Vietnam, or in interviewing Vietnam vets or researching archived records, and who support the truth of the accounts he "repeated."

Why reopen that wound when you know that there are honest differences of opinion?

By the way, I suspect that the "compassion" we showed to the Vietnamese by conducting the war might be characterized as something far different by the Vietnamese families and friends of the millions of civilians that died from such "compassion." The undeniable fact is that after we left there was bloodshed but that Vietnam found its own balance and is not now considered a hellhole nation. In fact, some Vietnamese who had fled to America are going back. That should tell you something.
