Dan Rather ought to be suspended pending the outcome of an investigation, and if he is found to be negligent, ought to get the boot unceremoniously.

Any news anchor/reporter/editor/producer of his experience and caliber shouldn't ever be schnookered like that, unless he did so "willingly" ("wink, wink").
