There was also the fact that we had only 3 choices for national TV news: CBS, NBC, and ABC (the chronic lagger, remember?) Cronkite had a great presence and avuncular appearance, plus a wonderful voice. Huntley and Brinkley were a bit more entertaining, with their dialogues. Poor ABC was always bringing up the rear, and didn't have a "star" newscaster like the other two shows, at least in the 60's and early seventies. Harry Reasoner, wasn't it?
