OK pal. I thought you were more genuine that this but when the facts no longer serve you, you begin attacking the messenger with lies. That is disappointing but I am not afraid to confront each one.

"-- I do not for one second believe there is nothing we can do to make the world a better place --that is your personal view. "

Lie number 1:

I have only confronted the facts of the situation so that we can discuss what CAN BE DONE. I have presented an entire treatise on solutions to the problem that are not military in nature. I do not see military force as a solution to anything except establishing security and stability (temporarily). You have done nothing but express your unfounded wish that it all just go away and seem to suggest that if bush would, it would. You have talked about nothing but running from the problem.

Lie number 2:

"Given your bleak assessment of the world as a place full of people that we must kill,"

I have said no such thing nor have I ever even thought such a thing.

Utter and contemptable Lie number 3:

"no amount of pointless killing or bad policy that involves pointless killing offends or concerns you."

There is no basis for this false allegation.

Lie number 4:

What you utterly omit is the fact that OUR POLICIES play a role in creating the world you fear so much.

I have on more than one occasion expressed agreement on the terrorist/terrorized relationship. The frustration of the terrorists at feeling powerless to advance their political objectives any other way drives them to commit acts of terror against those they view as powerfully in their way.

Lie number 5:

"You cannot imagine that we have a choice in this."

We have many choices. Many are being operationalized as we sit here. Many more could be if thoughtful and well intentioned persons would quit bickering over who smeared who first in the presidential campaign.

Lie Number six:

"You cannot imagine that we have made some truly awful choices for ourselves -- forgetting for a moment about the impact on other people. We need an honest discussion of what we are getting right and what we are getting wrong -- and then we need to look at our choices through that lense -- the one that asks how we can make the world a better place rather than the one that asks who we should kill next."

Many valid documents have been written about mistakes, oversights, and blunders that have been committed in our efforts to stand up to conflict. I have read them and considered their validity, as I am sure qualified Government representatives have.

You seem to want someone to tell you we can have a perfect world free from conflict, if bush will just make nice to terrorists. Well, at least I have not seen one constructive suggestion from you and you have continually avoided recognizing that there is an enemy that does not want to engage in diplomacy and likely never will.

I am not surprised that you would end up casting all these false allegations and attributions at me...so, I am not expecting your apology... tsk
