It may well be a Cat 2 or 3 after going over Cuba. But Western Cuba is not mountainous like the east end.

The Gulf is NOT cool. It's very warm this time of year. Mid to high 80's. Warmer than the gulfstream. Once into the guld the storm could easily wind up a category or two. Just like Charley did.
