I did! When I typed the first sentence the characters "1st" formed a superscript exactly the way it doesn't happen in the real memo.

Put a space after the 1 and before the "s" just as was done in MOST instances in the real memo. No superscript occurs. Note the space between the 1 and the "st" in the "real" memo, EXCEPT when they slipped up and failed to put the space in. This is fairly conclusive.

You're still not getting it. Where a space follows the 1, the "st" will not be superscript. Where it doesn't, the "st" WILL be superscript. Just as in the "real" memo.

Trust your eyes. But use your mind.
