I don't see that. In fact, it is the first attempt in 50 years to democratize the Middle East.

Three were two goals in the invasion of Iraq.

1= Remove a known dangerous regime which hates the US and Iraq's neighbor countries, and has shown willingness to go to war to capture land. This has been a complete success.

2= Install some form of representative government in Iraq. This is ongoing, and the outcome is unclear at the moment. This process has clearly had less planning and preparation than goal #1.

"Anybody can see this iraq mess is a failure."

?? A complete failure would have had the Iraqi army taking out the coalition's forces in a preemptory strike, and then occupying the rest of the Arabian Peninsula. I think what will come out of Iraq eventually is going to be better than 40 more years under Saddam and then Uday, so have some perspective.
