SAMSys Appoints VP of Engineering To Expand RFID Development Team

TORONTO, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY: TSX), an
international provider of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) hardware
solutions and consulting services, today announced the appointment of Michael
J. Koch as vice president of engineering. The new post is the first step in an
expansion of the senior management team being implemented in response to the
rapidly expanding market for RFID technologies.
Koch has more than two decades of senior engineering and product
development experience, including the last five years as senior engineering
director for InterDigital Communications Corp., a developer of advanced
wireless technology platforms. He previously served as senior engineering
manager for the wireless messaging group at Motorola, Inc.
Koch will be responsible for core product development, including work on
a new generation of RFID readers designed to extend the multi-frequency,
multi-protocol and multi-regional UHF reader architecture that was originated
by SAMSys and is fast becoming accepted as the standard for supply chain
solutions.
"RFID is gaining traction because of thought leaders ranging from mass
market retailers like Wal-Mart and Germany's Metro Group to the Department of
Defense, and we expect Mike Koch to play an important role in helping us
maximize our market share as the movement accelerates," said Cliff Horwitz,
chairman, CEO and president of SAMSys Technologies Inc. "New and evolving
market requirements call for new kinds of readers, and we now have
strengthened our engineering management to meet these demands."
