Does anybody want an outsiders opinion?
I'm an investor who has over 10 years
experience in the retail pet trade.
Including 5 plus years in management.
I don't think it's fair to judge all
the stores after only visiting 2 on
Long Island but here are a few observations.

Their livestock sucks. Everything is guaranteed
but 1 sick animal can infect others. I would never
buy livestock there.

Their sale prices are often less than the wholesale
price smaller stores pay, however their regular prices
high.

It seems to me their basic strategy is to sell dog and cat
food real cheap and overcharge for anything else to make up
for it.
Encouraging customers to shop with their pets
is bad news for pets and investors. Flea, mite and disease transfer
are all possible as well as liability for anything that can happen
such as bites or fights.

Finally, none of the employees I've encountered knows what
they're talking about. A more knowledgable staff could increase
sales dramatically.
