It seems Cingular needs to blow a little smoke about their schedules to retain customers that might be thinking about switching to an 1xev-do carrier. An interesting aspect of this announcement is the need - that Cingular apparently feels - to mention HSDPA in the same breath. It's as if they're already acknowledging that WCDMA's ability to compete with 1xev-do is questionable.

And it makes it that much less credible to hype EDGE.
