Bush drank heavily and partied with his buddies. He sought and obtained educational opportunities, others supported him. The references he had were probably better than most and that helps. During his partying years he probably did what he could, to get out of mundane duty.
Kerry went to Viet Nam after trying to get out of it. He was against the government's policies on Viet Nam and was politically active from his perspective. He was a young out spoken kid who embellished his war stories and was full of himself.
Neither Bush nor Kerry conduct them selves the way they did thirty five years ago. Both of them have performed in high ranking government offices over the past few decades.
In their zealousness to see their party succeed some people who support one or the other of these men cannot be counted upon to be truthful. People can be counted upon to falsify historical evidence, revision events, and out and out lie on behalf of their favorite candidate. People who support Bush were sure the documents were forged and were calling Dan Rather a corrupt liar, without even having seen the documents. People who support kerry were sure the documents were authentic with little to go on except their desire to see kerry benefit.
Does the average person in the mainstream care what either man's position was on Viet Nam. No. Only the people who were protesting or fighting during that war were effected, and many of those have moved on and put that issue behind them.
What do we care about? The economy, jobs, foreign policy, health Insurance, education, taxation, social programs and services, families and communities... Are these candidates ever going to get to discussing real issues? Will the media even notice?
Do we care if those silly documents were forged or not? It has no baring on either candidate, but of course we care if their is a scandal associated with a major organization or if it has national implications... like who will get elected. Lacking any focus on issues, I guess we should care about whether this inconsequential documents had kerning or superscript etc... Let's all get out and vote over what we believe about these documents... rah rah |
