MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Adaptec, Inc.
(NASDAQ:ADPT) is providing FireCard, the AHA-8940 1394-to-PCI host adapter, and
FireSoft software drivers for Canon's new DV Capture Kit DK-1 aimed at consumers that
want to take advantage of the digital quality offered by today's DV camcorders.

The kit gives consumers the power to be digital publishers using the 1394 technology as
a simple, 100% digital one-plug connection between PCs and consumer electronic
devices, such as DV camcorders. The DV Capture Kit DK-1 combines Adaptec's leading
1394 I/O technology with Canon's expertise in the consumer electronics market to meet
the growing demand for easily connecting consumer electronic devices and PCs. Now
consumers with DV camcorders that include a DV connector can use the DV Capture Kit
DK-1 to manipulate, store and publish high-quality, digital still images and move them
into their PC to enhance presentations, newsletters, web sites and other personal
communications.
