WHO IS 'A PERSON WITH KNOWLEDGE OF TEXAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD OPERATIONS'?
Kerry Spot [ jim geraghty reporting ]

This is an interesting little note deep in the USA Today story:

USA TODAY obtained copies of the documents independently soon after the 60 Minutes segment aired Wednesday, from a person with knowledge of Texas Air National Guard operations. The person refused to be identified out of fear of retaliation. It is unclear where the documents, if they are real, had been kept in the intervening three decades.
It would help if USA Today could get just a little more specific about this source who was handing out these memos. Was it a Democratic party source? A member of "Texans for Truth"? A Pentagon official? A courier from Dan Rather's office who just happens to know a lot about the Texas Air National Guard?

One suspects that USA Today knows a lot more that it's saying about how reliable this guy is, and whether it is likely that this source was the same person who gave CBS the documents.
