Linking the Puerto Rican independence movement FALN of the 1970s to 9-11 is a huge stretch, IMO. If they are connected to Arab terrorism of today... then nearly everything is (but certainly everything oil-related, everything Israel/Palestine/USA, etc.) IMO, the FALN (never a very effective or popular political movement) could perhaps be be more fairly compared with the (far stronger politically) movement in Chechnia for independence from Russia --- where all their terrorism activity is aimed at the nation which conquered their lands. Now, my feelings. I believe that in all criminal matters, sentences should be fair, and served for their full terms. (No 'pardons'.) I'm not much in favor of 'Chuck Colson-type' religious 'conversions' being a way to lower sentences. On the otherhand... at least these Puerto Ricans served DECADES in prison... while these Cubans (who apparently killed far more people, and far more recently) are having parties thrown in their honor in Miami.
