Hi James, I find that your below comment is without merit or source:
"And is there really an impending break in the ranks of the fraternity that "controls" the stock? That would do far more harm (IMHO) than a down quarter! I don't have any concrete information so no use hounding me (I don't actually care). I'll just sit back and enjoy it when it happens."
You need to realize that there are more than "just a few" holders of large positions in Presstek stock that have never sold a share. Their belief that the company maintains a leadership role in the print industry and is ahead of competition is solid and verifiable.
The bears belief is that Presstek will not maintain their current leadership position, that the stock is overvalued, and that a short gain is a certainty. They do not believe that Presstek is capable in remaining "the front runner" by introducing new technology. In fact, most bears actually say Presstek's contributions are actually antiquated or "outdated", that their present technology is "old news", almost as if they are a one-product company and will remain standing put on their latest innovations without further contribution!
I believe, as do the other bulls, that the reason Presstek stock continues to gain in value (long term chart) is this company has NOT been standing still. They have sought and hired away, key engineers and scientists from competing companies. These people that form the nucleus of a Pressek R/D team are the envy of their competitors. It is not so amazing to the bulls that Presstek continues to announce new technology and leading edge innovations on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the bears lack of understanding that Presstek will continue to remain a strong technical contributor to the industry with many new products and contributions, has been the bears downfall, causing desperate jabs and false rumors.....(such as your "breaking of the ranks statement") The bears fantasy that the stocks value will soon be worth $10.00 or less is the three year old news here. This has most certainly cost the bears dearly and will continue to do so, as more and more bulls support the stock, adding to their postions on a regular basis.
Presstek is very well positioned as the forefront provider, to supply the printer with the technology they want and need and will continue to do so in the future.
Don't be short when Presstek announces that their Catalina technology is complete and production of processless plates is in-house. I would expect the stock to jump considerably with this announcement.
