Makes sense to me Tim, poorly phrased maybe, i'll try again - A nation gets no added justification for war by quoting as pretext a 'security guarantee' it has itself offered ..... possibly that wasn't what you meant back upthread, if so please disregard this, it's late and i don't have the energy to scroll back
'Casus Belli is the fact that the North attacked the South.'
Not in their way of seeing it, to the viets the previously freed portion of their country liberated the occupied territory of the south .... for a parallel on another continent, the US fought its bloodiest war ever to prevent its southern states from seceding, though it had at the time less than one-twentieth the recorded history of the vietnamese people ..... and like i say, the whole fiction of 'South Viet Nam' was invented by the Eisenhower administration in 1955, as part of its efforts to justify not holding the 1956 elections as agreed under the Geneva accords ..... just smoke and mirrors amigo, none of this is in any way sufficient, absent your winning so thoroughly that you get to write the only history of events .... and not much hope of doing that nowadays
' Without censorship, things can get terribly confused in the public mind.' - Gral William Westmoreland, in an interview in the 1980s i think
' but the goals and burden and responsibility are shared.'
Not very widely, lol ..... the Coalition of the Billing, of the bullied and bribed, pfft .... all right, i'll give you Tony Blair and the one hundred seventy-three other brits who are genuinely supportive of US policy as she is made .... but you can't have 'the UK' because brits overall are emphatically not turning neocon ..... Costa Rica wants out of the coalition, by the way, was a bit surprised on finding herself listed as 'onside for Iraq' after making supportive statements in re crime-fighting after the WTC went down .... they don't have an army but the bushistas used their name to fill a line anyway, lol ...... more smoke and mirrors, you got to watch out for that stuff with these folk |
