If you like Cryptonomicon (as I did) you will probably also like Neal Stephenson's other books, namely, Diamond Age and Snow Crash. Far be it from me to rant on this subject on this thread, but let it be known that he is by far the best Sci-Fi author alive and his stories have a brilliance never seen in the myriad books of William Gibson (inventor of the post-internet sci-fi genre), combining elements from archeological findings, imagined effects of technologies to come (i.e. nanotechnology), and subtle & cynical humour. His latest "Baroque Cycle" of books didn't particularly rock my world so far, though...
