re:"booting up and want to make the choices you outlined that I run into the frozen keyboard."

This may not be any help,or you may have had this answered, but I had the same problem once. Is your keyboard a USB or an old fashioned serial connection to the PC? If it's USB it probably doesn't come to life until Windows is half loaded, whereas a serial connection is live immediately after POST.

Big thanks to Khalil Ayoub for this advice... turns out that is exactly what was needed! I 'borrowed' an old serial keyboard from work and was able to make keyboard choices prior to windows loading in order to get to a C: prompt and reformat. Only problem now is that I already bought a new machine since I was inticed by a free color printer, office software I didn't have the disks for from old Dell PC, etc. How much should I try get for a P4 (166?) 80G 256 meg mem., ME, 17" trinitron with a $160 Nvidia card, speakers+subwoofer, etc. anyone here interested? ;-)

Is ther a website with a kind of 'blue' book equivalent for PCs that are still viable and/or place to sell? I noticed ebay had little... licensing issues? TIA
