He is a combat veteran who was under fire on many occasions. That makes him a war hero to me. You can argue that he should have been braver, should have stayed longer, should have died, whatever. The thing I can't leave alone is all the postings of Jim, Dabum and others that denigrate his service.

We should all aplaud him for serving our country, regardless of whether he could have done more. The fact is that out of every 100 men that served in Vietnam, Kerry probably saw more action, took more risks and was at greater risk of losing his life in combat than 97-98 of them. That should mean something to a "grateful nation." Or maybe not. Ed
