Pretty good post. This is what attracted me to these threads months ago. Not that this happens often here.

I don't think the real issues, whatever they may be, are going to get much more than fleeting attention for the rest of the campaign and more than likely not until we are nearer the debates and afterwards. People are concerned with bushe's closed position on most issues and people are concenred about his ability to handle the ever changing circumstances of our times. Unfortunately, I don't think Kerry is the man that can capitalize on that because he is viewed as flavor of the day legislation and rightly so.

Kerry comes off as a lucky kind of a rich guy who always catches a break. And speaking of that break I think his drop in the poles is going to turn out to be another lucky break for that guy. My reasoning is that I don't think the next president is going to enjoy much popularity. My reasoning for that is simple.... IRAQ... and I believe that by this time next year public opinion is going to be very very low for that war. More than likely to happen before inaguration time.

I personally think that Iraq is going to boil over and implode and I really don't know what can be done to avoid that. So Kerry losing the election which looks more and more likely is just going to turn out to be another break for the rich guy who has more than likely walked on water most of his life.

I see big changes needed for the democratic party ie.. new leadership but I also think that by 2008 the public is going to have as much distaste for the republican party. Partly due to Iraq and more to do with aligning themselves to closely with the far christain right faction of the republican party and enormous budget deficits....

The ball will still be in the Democrats court to come up with a new agenda and new leadership. I think the hardest thing for them to do as a party will be to convince that voting public that they are capable of taking a swing when needed.

ty for the post
