I think we will have to stay with a large force until after the Iraqi elections AND
Iraq has a credible police force. Then the US withdraws and just keeps a
few troops as a "tripwire" so that Syria and Iran stay out. Much like
what we did in South Korea. The fact is, we might have some troops stationed
there for a long time. It will be worth it to start democracy in the ME ... You
could always ask for the South Korean people's opinion on whether it is worth it.
