PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX)
today introduced a plain paper, laser-based multi-function fax system that can
support workgroups of up to 25 people and that has the fastest available
document scanning and transmitting speeds.
The Document WorkCentre Pro 745 can scan a page to memory in one second
and transmit a page in as little as three seconds per page. In addition to
high-speed faxing, it provides a variety of functions including copying and PC
printing, with optional LAN faxing, printing, and scanning to the PC. It has
a standard 220-page memory and, with an optional second phone line, can
perform up to four tasks simultaneously.
To minimize phone charges, the system employs a high-speed modem that
reduces connection and transmission times, and it offers a relay broadcast
function to send multiple local faxes from a remote machine. Another
innovation is its ability to track copy and fax use of 50 separate accounts.
The new unit features 600 by 600 dots per inch (dpi) PC printing and 400
by 400 dpi resolution for fax scanning and printing. It prints at 11 pages
per minute.
Convenience features include a 50-sheet automatic document feeder,
expandable paper supply, a simple user interface and 50 pre-programmable keys.
Advanced ControlCentre software allows users to program phone lists and
machine settings from a PC and print from a PC using standard Windows printing
software. With group fax function users can send the same fax to 290
destinations.
A broad series of products can be created from the WorkCentre Pro 745 by
combining the range of available features and options into more than 50
configurations.
The Document WorkCentre Pro 745 meets the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency's Energy Star Standards. It will be available at a suggested list
price of U.S. $3,995 in the U.S. and Canada starting in September 1997, and
Europe in the fall. It is backed by the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee.
