I agree that this administration has strayed madly from traditional Republican values, but I keep thinking that with terrorism it is different. With Russia, we came to a peaceful end because the enemy could be held accountable and their was the threat of mutually assured destruction.

But today we are faced with an enemy that bears no consequences of their terrorism. So we have to go after the countries who are fomenting it. Ergo, Iran and Syria, as well as Saudi Arabia.

It's not so much that nation building is the best example of what we need to do. Rather, it's that we needed a way to get leverage over the M.E. fast in order to do something about terrorism. We couldn't wait for 50 years to seduce terrorists to our way of thinking. Have you ever tried to seduce a shark with a piece of blood raw fish strapped to your back? That's what it would be like negotiating with terrorists or trying to woo them over to our way of thinking.

We are Satan to them. The only thing they want is our destruction. How can we do anything other than shoot to kill with these types of people? This truly is one of those rare situations where it is us or them. Frankly, I'd rather it be them. I don't agree with Bush's methods and I think he sucks at executing even good ideas, but you have to admit, there have been no attacks on U.S. soil since 9/11. The U.S. has successfully taken the fight back to them in the Middle East, so we don't have to fight them on our soil. For that, I am thankful.
