I'll probably end up giving it to a relative
########################
That's what I am going to do with mine, or to a friend. Here's the hilarious part: the three people who have said they would appreciate me giving them the PC and monitor are all of the same, ilk*. Which is to say: they are novices in general that will hit ME up to bring it to them, set it up, answer their questions now and into the future, then likely bitch that there are certain limitations including the fact that they will need to actually sign up with a broad band ISP and pay a monthly fee in order to take advantage of high speed surfing... as if it's my shortcoming lol.
Additionally, they will question why certain Microsoft products are not on there and secretly complain they had to spend like a $100 out of their pocket even after I have given them a decent machine for free. Lastly, they will kind of sigh when I indicate I kept my printer because it is a fairly new HP laser printer that I upgraded to 8 meg of ram and can handle lots of postscript forms and pdf files that lesser printer overload on and can't handle. If I did not already have an 80g external hard drive for backup I’d keep the machine just to avoid the grief! <gg> I know all of this because this happened last round, same story, 4 years ago. When did it become to the norm to dictate the giver is also responsible for every aspect of installation, explanation and maintenance? It's like when I gave a friend a '92 car to use for any length of time for free, and they end up bitching saying they got a flat that cost $75 to fix, so take back your 'crap' car, it's costing them. I love it! Did it look like a dream machine with 'Ford' on the hatchback?
