Taiwan -- I am not aware of any country that disputes that Taiwan is part of China -- the US does not dispute this and even Taiwan does not dispute that it is part of China.

Taiwan asserts that it is the government of all of China, and that the mainland is just a collection of "breakaway provinces". This is a similar fiction to Bejing's assertion that it is the government over Taiwan. The reality is neither government is government over both and neither has been since the 40s.

There are a variety of reasons why Taiwan is part of China and always will be, but one stands out above all else -- under no circumstances would China ever accept it to be otherwise.

Refusal to accept reality doesn't change reality. An armed attack might but until and unless that happens Taiwan is independent of the mainland.

We would not have diplomatic and trade relations with China if we did not recognize "one China".

Which is exactly why we accept the fiction of "one China".
