The point is not that it traded 1000 shares today, but that regardless of how many shares it trades on any given day, someone consistently tries to close it down with a small order at the end of the day.

You may LOL at this, but that's probably what the person who is doing this wants you to do. To me it looks like somebody is short a lot of stock and because of the thin volume he can't cover his short position. And he knows that if the next heavy volume activity is up, he's in a lot of trouble.
