Good afternoon, Jay.
About Maurel et Prom. Yahoo France shows just one analyst. His recommendation is Accumulate. His estimate of 2005 earnings per share is 7.79 Euros. That translates to 14.5 times earnings. Anton says eight times earnings. That's what makes a horse race, eh? The company lost money for several years in a row. Since 2003 their profits have exploded. I simply don't know what their long term abilities at finding oil are so I'm staying away. Good luck to you and Anton.
Chugs,
Malcolm
P.S. There is also the possibility that French taxation is like that of Canada, where losses of the past can reduce your income tax now, so the nice figure of 7.79 may reflect a reduced income tax rate, a most temporary distortion.
