No, the fact is that China allows Taiwan to be self-administering, as Hong Kong was self-administering. Had Hong Kong declared "independence" the reaction would be the same as a similar move by Taiwan. Just as Hong Kong is being slowly absorbed from an administrative point of view, so is Taiwan. Neither of them dispute the basic facts of life as you seem to compelled to do: There is one China and Taiwan is part of it. Perhaps one day the cold war will end for you -- perhaps not. But for most of the world it is over, and it no longer holds much interest for China or the United States.
